A lot of our members and other interested parties have expressed their interest in purchasing our Nigeria Oil Block Concession Data so we've decided to make the concession data (blocks + GPS coordinates) available for a fee.
Compatible with Google Earth, ArcGIS and other popular mapping Apps.
Our oil block concession data is currently in a downloadable KML format (~1MB) specifying the names of all 421 Oil Block Concessions, their GPS coordinates and Operators (where available).
Block concessions are made up of a series of GPS – Latitude, Longitude coordinates, with a plus "+" symbol delimiter, e.g. OPL 722 - 6.042236,2.632599 + 6.001265,2.585907 + 6.003996,2.651825. These GPS coordinates define the shape/structure of each concession.
Here's a sample:
Oil Block Name | GPS Coordinates |
---|---|
OPL 312 | 6.05043,2.726807 + 6.05043,3.092102 + 5.807292,3.097595 + 5.810024,2.729553 |
OPL 317 | 5.57225,2.728729 + 5.569516,3.096771 + 5.804559,3.095398 + 5.807292,2.730103 |
OPL 328 | 5.107358,3.087845 + 4.945933,3.089218 + 4.940461,3.556137 + 5.101887,3.55751 |
*We have data for 421 oil blocks.
*GPS coordinates have a plus "+" symbol delimiter.
NOTE: The data is provided in KML format compatible with Google Earth, ArcGIS and other popular GIS platforms. We can also generate KMZ format for free on request. We have discontinued CSV format and have started working with KML exclusively.
How do you plan to use the data?
We have 2 types of licenses:
The non-commercial use license is targeted at students/teachers, research analysts, journalists etc for personal use ONLY. Non-commercial license holders are not permitted
to re-distribute or re-sell the data.
Non-Commercial Use License: USD $0.3 or NGN ₦200 per oil block (USD $126.30 or NGN ₦84,200 for all 421 oil blocks)
If you plan to use the data as part of a process or application to directly or indirectly make money (e.g. through product/service sales or advertising) then you
will be required to purchase a one-time commercial use license. Commercial license holders are not permitted to re-distribute or re-sell the data.
Commercial Use License: USD $3.0 or NGN ₦2,000 per oil block (USD $1,263.00 or NGN ₦842,000 for all 421 oil blocks)

Some FAQs we usually get from our clients.
1. Is there a way we could validate the authenticity of the data provided?
You can find lots of Nigeria concession maps online like this one
from the Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). Please also see the "Samples" section for a Google Maps render of the data we'll be providing you with for
comparison. You can also plug in the GPS coordinates from the samples in the "Data Format" section above on Google Maps/Earth and you'll see that they match up with the DPR
map. In addition you may also request for the GPS coordinates of any 1 more oil block of your choice to also cross check with the DPR map or any other data source you may
have.
It's important you do these checks because we have a No-Refund Policy. Given the nature of data, once released it can't be returned and it's
impossible to guarantee that it will be deleted without being duplicated.
2. How long would it take for the data to be made available after payment has been made?
The data will be made available to you via email within 1 to 3 working days after payment has been received depending on the requested format.
Try before you buy.
Please download this sample KML file containing the structure of OML 30 to ensure you will be able to load and overlay the information on Google Earth or ArcGIS before we send the final file.
Please also see above a Google Maps render of the data we'll be providing you with for comparison.
Are you ready to purchase?
We accept the following payment methods:
1. Credit/Debit Card (Local and International: Online payment gateway)
2. PayPal (International: USD, GBP)
3. Bank Wire Transfer (Account residing in Nigeria: NGN or UK: GBP)
4. Bitcoin (International: BTC)
You can choose to purchase a subset of the entire dataset (e.g. 200 of the 421 oil blocks) and specify which region you’re interested in (e.g. south-south, south-east, south-west, etc). So for example, a commercial use license for all 200 oil blocks would be USD $600.00 or NGN ₦400,000. We'll provide you with an invoice and once payment has been made and receipt confirmed we'll start preparing the data.
Although not compulsory, we would also appreciate it if you credit us – OilMapNg.com – where the data is used, either as a text reference or clickable URL back-link to our website.
